Motorola introduced the Razr 40 line of foldable phones. This year, two razr phones will debut, in addition to the regular version also a super version. This Ultra has, among other things, a larger screen on the front and costs €1,200, €300 more than the regular razr 40.
Both phones are foldable phones with a 6.9-inch OLED display on the inside of the fold with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 22:9. In both versions, this display has a maximum brightness of 1400 cd/m² and supports HDR10 + Ultra version 120 percent of the DCI-P3 color spectrum and 165Hz refresh rate; And the regular Razr gets a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz.
The differences are even bigger with the smaller screen on the outside. The Ultra has a 3.6 inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1066 x 1056 pixels and an aspect ratio of 1:1. This screen has a maximum brightness of 1100cd/m² and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The cheaper Razr here is a 1.5″ screen with a resolution of 194 x 368 pixels and an aspect ratio of 2:1. This screen has a 60Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2.
The Ultra also has more powerful hardware with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 soc and 8 or 12GB Lpddr5. UFS 3.1 storage capacity is 265 or 512 GB. The regular Razr gets a Snapdragon Gen 1 soc and 8GB of memory. This device also has UFS 2.2 storage, with a capacity of 256GB.
Motorola’s new, cheaper razr has a larger battery capacity, at 4,200mAh, compared to the Ultra’s 3,800mAh. Both devices can be charged at a maximum of 30W. The two phones also differ in cameras. The regular Razr gets a 64MP camera and a 13MP wide-angle camera with a smaller screen, while the ultra here gets a 12MP camera and a 13MP wide-angle camera. Both phones get a 32MP selfie camera in the big screen that can combine 4 pixel sensors to take 8MP photos.
Both phones will receive Android 13 at launch, and Motorola has promised three Android upgrades and four years of security updates. The width of the two phones is 74 mm. When open, it is 170 mm long and 7 mm thick; Closed 88 mm long. The Ultra is 15mm thick and the regular Razr is 16mm thick. Both phones weigh about 188 grams. The razr 40 Ultra is available from Monday for €1,200 and comes in black, purple and blue. The razr 40 will be available from mid-July for €900 in green, vanilla and purple.
