Microsoft seems to want to show app views in the Windows 11 Start menu – Computer – News

Well, it depends on the type of user.

I think the general trend here would be: What a mess, we definitely don’t need this. But Henk from around the corner likes this.

I only use Windows for teaching (because the majority of students have a Windows laptop anyway). Other than that, I’ve been using Linux Mint as my daily driver for years. I read here recently that there are people who have spent entire days using Linux at work, but have never thought of using Linux as their desktop. Aside from a few games (usually with those persistent kernel-based anti-cheat games), I’ve always found an alternative over the years. Windows has now come a long way, and has actually improved over the years. But this is the same with Linux. I still remember the first time I used Linux in 96-97. I have already tried some distributions.

I always wonder about these types of features… who comes up with this and who approves it? These are the people I would summarily dismiss. Then there is the corporate world. How do you implement this company-wide? I guess this should be possible after all. On the other hand, there is no “worthy” alternative. Switching, as recently discussed in an article here, is not as simple as it seems. There are also “users” who should not be underestimated. There will be a lot of people where you will have to hold their hands. But I see more and more people who have used Windows for years switching to Linux at home for various reasons. I still dual boot here at home, to test hardware/software connections occasionally (and no, it’s not 100% the same in a virtual machine) and some games. But I think this is the last computer I will dual boot. If I can’t play a game (anymore), so be it. Don’t worry about that anymore
