Meta, the parent company of Facebook, will open its first physical store next month. The store is located in California and will revolve around the virtual and augmented reality products the company sells. In the store, consumers can buy these products and try them with demos.
at Meta Store Come demos of Quest 2, Portal devices, and Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses. The Quest 2 demo lets people experience Beat Saber, GOLF+, Real VR Fishing or Supernatural with a VR headset. Others can see what the player sees in this demo, through the LED screen on the wall. Players will also get a half-minute “Mixed Reality” video with parts of the demo.
In the Ray-Ban Stories demo, Meta wants to show how users can take photos and record videos with glasses, and share those recordings. Customers should also be able to try different frames, colors, and lenses. The portal demo allows people to experience video calling hardware by, among other things, video calling and using other functions with a Meta salesperson.
The Meta Store is about 144 square meters and opens on May 9th. The store is located near the Meta Reality Labs headquarters, where it works on VR and AR applications. The metaverse is also featured in the store. “We don’t sell the metaverse in store, but hopefully people will know more about how our products will help them connect with it,” said Martin Gilliard, President of Meta Store.
In the store, consumers can purchase Quest 2 headphones and accessories, as well as Portal hardware. Ray-Ban Stories glasses are not available in stores. It is unknown if Meta wants to open more stores.
