“MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC is faster than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3” – Computer – News

A Chinese teaser has released more details about the Dimensity 9300 prototype. One of the chip’s four Arm Cortex X4 cores is said to run at 3.25GHz. The Dimensity 9300 is also said to be faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but less power efficient.

According to the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 also has four Arm A720 computing cores. The mobile GPU is the Mali Immortalis G720, which has twelve compute cores and lpddr5t memory. Lpddr5t memory speed can reach 9.6Gb/s. That’s about 13 percent faster than Lpddr5x memory. Digital Chat Station did not provide any other details about the graphics processing unit.

Digital Chat Station claims that this Dimensity 9300 prototype performs better in benchmarks than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, in both CPU and GPU tasks. It’s not clear how much power the SoC consumes, but the leaker seems to suggest that the MediaTek chipset is less power efficient.

At the beginning of September, leaker Evan Blass noted that the Dimensity 9300 was currently still running too hot to deliver the promised performance. According to Blass, MediaTek may have to reduce clock speeds to limit heat production to some extent.

Taiwanese processor designer MediaTek has not officially announced the Dimensity 9300. Previous SoCs have always been announced in the fall. Qualcomm will introduce its latest SoC on October 24, 2023. This will probably include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

to update, 12.40 pm: An additional paragraph with context about Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoCs has been added to the article. Thanks Tidades.
