But according to Trouw newspaper, the shelf life of the doses already ends on August 31 this year.

Novavax was purchased to provide an alternative for people who do not want to be vaccinated with a so-called mRNA vaccine, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Where the mRNA vaccine contains synthetic genetic material that ensures that human cells produce the spike protein of the coronavirus themselves, the Novavax vaccine directly injects this spike protein.

Since March 11, people can schedule a Novavax vaccination. To date, 655 people have been vaccinated and there are still 329 appointments.

In order not to leave behind thousands of doses, the Ministry decided to make 420,000 doses of Novavax available for donation to other countries. It is doubtful whether this will work, as the supply of vaccines has increased in other countries.
