LG showed off a 27-inch OLED panel with a 480Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. This is the first Quad HD OLED panel with such a refresh rate.

The screen, which will be shown next week at CES 2024 and is dedicated to gaming, will have a response time of 0.03 milliseconds and use META technology. LG writes. The latter means that the board is equipped Micro lens set, an additional layer that prevents internal scattering of light within the bottom layer of the panel and a greater portion of the light is actually radiated towards the viewer. This means more light output for the same electrical input, while the viewing angle of the screen is not affected.

The manufacturer also claims that the OLED display emits “the lowest amount of blue light in the entire industry” and about half as much as “premium LCD displays.” No other specifications were mentioned. LG wrote that it wants to make the panel available to customers in the first half of the year. They can then integrate the screen into their displays. It is not yet clear when the first displays with this panel will become available.

In December, LG actually introduced an OLED display with a 480Hz refresh rate, although the resolution was “only” 1080p. In the same month, Samsung introduced a 27-inch 360Hz monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
