Frontier Developments has announced the launch of the new game F1 Manager 2022. The game will be released this summer for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Series X and S and for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

In F1 Manager 2022, players take on the role of a Formula 1 team captain Frontier developments in a blog post† Unlike ‘normal’ F1 games, this game focuses on the strategic aspect of motorsports; Players are not actually driving the race car. The British developer promises “a 360-degree view of the team, including the car, upgrades, factories, contracts and budgets”. The first trailer consists entirely of pre-rendered footage and does not feature any gameplay yet.

F1 Manager 2022 is the first licensed AAA game built around managing an F1 team. An official mobile game was released under the name of F1 Manager in 2018. In the middle of 2020, this game was renamed F1 Clash and it still exists in this capacity.

In addition, F1 Manager 2022 is the first sports game from Frontier Developments. The developer has created some parts and console ports for the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, two Jurassic World Evolution games, and titles like Elite: Dangerous, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and others.
