Trump’s former lawyer and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has filed for bankruptcy. Last week, an American jury sentenced him to pay damages estimated at 136 million euros.

By filing for bankruptcy, Giuliani wants to gain protection from creditors and have time to appeal the huge fine. Giuliani had to submit documents to the court stating that he had assets ranging from $1 million to $10 million and debts ranging from $100 million to $500 million.

Trump lost the 2020 elections in Georgia and tried to prove fraud. Giuliani claimed that two women withheld votes for Trump and counted votes twice for his rival, Biden. They also allegedly tampered with voting machines. There was absolutely no evidence for those allegations, but Giuliani kept repeating them.

The women, Andrea Moss and her mother Ruby Freeman, told jurors last week about the hatred they faced after the allegations. A federal judge previously convicted Giuliani of intentional infliction of emotional distress and conspiracy. The jury had to determine the amount of damages.
