First AC/DC fans line up early for Arena concert: 'I can't wait'

AC/DC’s concert at the Johan Cruijff Arena will only start tonight, but the first fans were already waiting in the stadium at 8am this morning. They hope this will put them ahead.

This is the first time in more than nine years that the legendary Australian band will perform in the Netherlands. This last happened in 2015, when AC/DC performed at the Gelredome in Arnhem.

“I have a tattoo with Highway to Hell,” said one Canadian fan who came to Holland for this concert. “I got this tattoo last year. I can’t wait to show it off tonight during the ceremony. I’m expecting ringing in the ears and a sore neck. So I’m looking forward to it.”

For many years it seemed that this show would also be the last in the Netherlands. Because after 2016 the band stopped touring for years. This was partly due to the death of founder Malcolm Young and singer Brian Johnson suffering hearing damage.

In the time of Corona, the band got back together to release a new album. Now the 70s are on tour again. Without frequent drummer Phil Rudd, who has come into contact with the law several times in recent months. Bassist Cliff Williams, who can be heard on the latest album, is not touring either.

AC/DC was founded in 1973. In the Netherlands they recorded hits with, among others, “Whole Lotta Rosie”, “Highway To Hell” and “Thunderstruck”.

The concert is sold out, meaning AC/DC can count on around 70,000 spectators tonight. Producing such concerts is often a huge undertaking. This stage took three days to build.
