More than eight in ten companies say they have taken action to work greener in the past year. Reducing energy consumption was particularly popular.
This is evidenced by figures released by statistics agency CBS, which asked companies in industry, retail, motor trade and services about sustainability.
Of those companies, 82% said they had greened their business operations in the past 12 months. In addition to reducing energy consumption, this also includes reducing waste and reducing harmful emissions.
It also appears that transport companies are mainly investing in reducing their emissions, while catering companies want to reduce their waste. Car dealers and shops are primarily interested in reducing their energy consumption.
Among the companies CBS asked, nearly 18% said they had done nothing to improve sustainability in the past year.
Companies that haven’t made themselves more sustainable recently haven’t usually done so because they haven’t had enough money to. This is a problem, especially for small businesses. Other companies say it generates little revenue for them.
