For the first time, a Dutch national has been added to the US sanctions list for Russia Follow the money. This is about Edwin Onno van Ingen. According to Washington, through his company Ronin Management BV, he cooperates with Russian laboratories aimed at developing nuclear weapons.
According to a report by the US Treasury Department, Van Ingen was frequently instructed by the Russian security services to purchase scientific technologies and equipment. Then he sells it to the Russians. In this way, Van Ingen helps to hide that Russia is the real buyer.
Van Ingen denies the allegations. In return Follow the money He says he took over the company from his father and never did anything the Dutch government didn’t know about. In his own words, he supplied ovens for laboratories and equipment, for example, to the maritime sector of Russia. “The idea that Americans are doing ‘nuclear uses’ is utter nonsense.”
Still, Van Ingen doesn’t think he’ll be too affected by punitive measures. “I’m not allowed to do business with American companies. But I’m not doing that.” Van Ingen also says that he has not exported anything to Russia since the start of the war in Ukraine. According to him, activities at Ronin have come to a complete standstill.
With Van Ingen and Rhone on the sanctions list, the Americans added two more Van Ingen companies to the list. These are Pro Rata Solutions BV and Delta Technical and Scientific Instruments BV.
According to van Ingen, Pro Rata Solutions is an administrative office, and he does not expect the US actions to have an impact there. Also, van Ingen says he is still active in importing goods from Poland. There too he foresees no trouble.
