Gamemaker DICE will continue to focus on the Battlefield series and specifically Battlefield 2042 in the coming years. The new head of the studio says there is no time for new projects, such as the new Mirror’s Edge.
This is what Rebecca Kotaz says In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz† Coutaz was at the helm of DICE for six months, which released Battlefield 2042 in November. She says this game will be the focus for at least the next three years. “We’re just focusing on Battlefield 2042. There’s no time for anything else and that’s what we want to do,” she replied when asked if there were any new projects coming, like the new Mirror’s Edge game. “In three years, we want the first person to shootenergy house Who DICE should be.” Coutaz hopes that DICE will become a leader in first-person shooters in Europe and the world.
Kotaz admits in the interview that Battlefield 2042 wasn’t very good. “The release of the game was not as expected,” she says. “Our players and community were disappointed, but so was the development team.” Since then, the studio has focused on bug fixes and new features, and according to the company has made enough improvements to the game to start working on DLCs and seasonal expansions.
