Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 25 million copies. Developer CD Projekt RED reported this during its Investor Day presentation. The new expansion for that game, Phantom Liberty, sold three million copies in its first week of release.

CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kiciński confirmed new Cyberpunk 2077 sales on Thursday. The title was sold nearly five million times last year. A year ago, in September 2022, Cyberpunk 2077 sold more than twenty million copies.

According to CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski, Cyberpunk 2077 will outperform The Witcher 3, which was released in 2015. He also writes for IGN. Cyberpunk sold 25 million copies in two years and ten months. The executive said that The Witcher 3 reached this sales figure in about 4.5 years. According to previous figures, the game has been pre-ordered eight million times. In its release month of December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077’s total number of sales rose to 13 million.

CD Projekt RED CFO Piotr Nielubowicz also confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion sold three million units in the first week of release. This expansion was released on September 26, right after Update 2.0 made major adjustments to the game. Thus, the game received, among other things, a new perk system.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10, 2020 and was received mainly negatively. Upon release, many players encountered bugs and performance issues. Since then, the developer has released several major hotfixes and updates. The PS5 and Xbox Series versions of the game were released in February 2022.
