A new Ace Combat game is in the works. Publisher Bandai Namco is working on this in collaboration with ILCA. The latter is a Japanese developer who previously helped produce Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
Objective details about the new Ace Combat game are not yet available and it is not yet clear when the game will be released. According to Jimatsu Bandai Namco and ILCA announced the project during Japanese celebration The 25th Anniversary of the Ace Combat Series.
Kazutoki Kono, Ace Combat Games producer, says his team is involved in developing the new game, but the team is too small to do it alone. This is the reason for calling ILCA help. He describes the future game as a “new era” for the series.
ILCA is the studio that makes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. This is a Switch code version of the Nintendo DS version of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl from 2006. The Japanese studio also helped create graphics for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has now shipped three million copies. This game came out in early 2019. The games in the series are set in a fantasy environment and can be seen as flight simulator games of fighter planes.
