Axiom Space Launches a SpaceX Rocket with Four Personnel to the International Space Station – IT Pro – News

Axiom Space has successfully completed the first stage of manned spaceflight Ax-1. It is the first mission to the International Space Station in which only personnel are transported. At around 5:17 PM Dutch time, the actual launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket began.

The entire team is made up of private individuals. Three civilians and former NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria as commander. He has already completed four spaceflights and is now CEO of Texas Axiom Space. The crew will stay aboard the International Space Station for eight days to conduct “innovative research”. The three people reportedly had to pay more than €50 million to be allowed to join Ax-1.

ax 1 It is the company’s first manned spaceflight. The launch took place from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The space mission is facilitated by SpaceX. The Ax-1 uses a reusable Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX. This thruster has been used four times before on other missions and serves as the primary thrust for the Crew Dragon, a unit above the missile that houses the four crew members.

Approximately twelve minutes after the Falcon 9 was launched, the last piece of thruster was successfully separated. Meanwhile, the missile successfully landed on a floating landing pad somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. The Crew Dragon with the crew is currently flying approximately 27,000 kilometers per hour to the International Space Station, where the unit must eventually connect independently to the space station.
