Taiwanese monitor manufacturer AU Optronics has announced a new 85-inch panel, a 4K LCD with a refresh rate of 240Hz, and it is not known when the first monitors with this panel will appear on the market.
AU Electronics stated at a press conference that it will release a 4k240 monitor with an 85-inch diagonal screen, Writes DigiTimes. The painting is not currently on the AUO website. In addition, the manufacturer shares some details, although the manufacturer states that the display will support a variable refresh rate. The screen can also display 96 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. There is also talk of HDR support. This 4K panel with 240Hz refresh rate is geared towards gamers and will be the first 4K panel with that refresh rate.
With the new AU Optronics board, manufacturers must use a DisplayPort 2.0 or HDMI 2.1 connector to publish full resolution and refresh rate. Video Cards. DisplayPort 2.0 must natively support 4k240, but must use HDMI 2.1 Stream pressure display. HDMI 2.1 is supported by the latest AMD and Nvidia GPUs, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, but DisplayPort 2.0 is not currently used in consumer products.
AU Optronics will eventually offer the upcoming 85-inch panel to customers, who can then build their own screens on it, such as televisions. It is not yet known when that will happen.
