Apple TV gets a four-player picture-in-picture sports broadcast mode with iOS 16.5 – Picture and sound – News

Once iOS 16.5 is officially released, the Apple TV app may have an option to activate a picture-in-picture mode that displays four windows at once. This appears to be intended for watching up to four sports streams on screen at the same time.

According to Steve Moser From the MacRumors website, the iOS 16.5 Beta 1 code contains certain changes, including a “multi-view grid” for the Apple TV app that allows users to view up to four simultaneous streams at once. Users must delete a “game” to add another.

It will be an extension of the current picture-in-picture mode supported by Apple TV. According to 9to5Mac There has been code in iOS for the multi-view option for a while, but there are more references in the latest beta. By the way, there are already apps for tvOS that support 4-way picture-in-picture mode, like those from ESPN and Fubo.

This expansion will be interesting for Apple in the US, among other things, because the company owns the broadcast rights to Major League Football and Thursday Night Baseball. These matches can be viewed via the Apple TV app. If the new feature does appear and is part of iOS 16.5, it appears to be limited to sports streams and the Apple TV app.
