Analyst: GPU deliveries increased 37 percent in the second quarter – IT Pro – News

Video card deliveries have risen sharply in the past quarter. That reports firm analyst John Pedey Research. In the second quarter of 2021, 37 percent more GPUs could have been delivered compared to the second quarter of 2020.

according to John Pedy Research Nearly 123 million GPUs were delivered in the second quarter of 2021. This is a 37 percent increase from last year and a 3.4 percent increase from the first quarter. This is astonishing, according to the analyst firm. GPU deliveries are usually lower in the second quarter than they were in the previous quarter. At the same time, the demand for GPUs remains high, in part due to the persistent shortage of chipsets.

The CPU market has also grown significantly compared to last year. Processor shipments are said to have increased 42 percent year-over-year. Compared to the first quarter of 2021, manufacturers delivered 3.5 percent more CPUs.

The analyst firm also reported that AMD’s total GPU market share declined slightly in the second quarter of 2021. That company’s market share was around 17.65 percent last year, but is now 16.48 percent. Nvidia’s market share is currently 15.23 percent and Intel 68.29 percent. However, this includes integrated GPUs, which are built into processors, for example.

AMD’s market share for single video cards has also declined. That was 20% in the second quarter of 2020, but it’s now 17%. Nvidia’s market share increased from 80 percent to 83 percent. Jon Peddie Research doesn’t list market share percentages for the CPU market, but Mercury Research recently did. Investigation.

Jon Peddie Research also expects to be mount base GPUs will grow 3.5 percent annually between 2020 and 2025. That would put 3.3 billion units in use by the end of that period. The analyst company also predicts that 25 percent of the GPUs used in five years will be discrete video cards.
