It is now known that there is a healthy competition between AMD and Intel in the field of processors. For example, last month we wrote about the Core i7-12700K and i9-12900K, which are ranked first and third in popularity, respectively, in the HWI product comparison. In the meantime, the top two positions are reserved for the Ryzen 5000 skus, and the downward trend can also be seen in the price.
For example, a comparison between now and last week (Feb 23) shows that three of the four most popular Zen 3 chipsets are getting cheaper. The sixteen-man flagship, the Ryzen 9 5950X, had the strongest drop: from 755 to 636 euros (-15.8%). For the 5900X, you’re now paying €50 less than last week (-9.6%), while the Ryzen 7 5800X is almost identically priced. The same trend can be seen with the Apus: the 5600G and 5700G are about the same price as they were a week ago.
In the case of the Ryzen 5 5600X, the price has fallen again. The hexagon turns out at the time of writing from €244 and is therefore 9.3% cheaper. This is great, as it is the first time this SKU can be purchased for less than 250 euros.
Healer | Recommended Retail Price | From the price February 23 | From the price March 2 |
---|---|---|---|
Ryzen 5 5600 g | 269 € | €229 | 225 EUR |
Ryzen 5 5600X | 309 EUR | 269 € | 244 EUR |
Ryzen 7 5700 g | 369 EUR | 319 | 319 |
Ryzen 7 5800X | €469 | 355 EUR | 360 € |
Ryzen 9 5900X | €509 | 519 EUR | €469 |
Ryzen 9 5950X | €749 | €755 | 636 EUR |
The exact reason for these price drops is unknown. Figures show that Intel is slowly losing market share in certain markets. AMD may want to make its desktop chips more attractive compared to Alder Lake by lowering the price.
