Severe thunderstorms caused limited damage in Flevoland on Saturday evening. Firefighters had to respond to ten reports of storm damage and flooding.

Most of the incidents involved fallen trees or torn branches. A company spokesperson says there have been no major incidents.

Golf courses are closed.
Golf courses in Dronten were temporarily closed due to the effects of the wind. Trees or branches were blown over several greens.

Lots of sand on the sand
A severe thunderstorm area moved across the province from around 5pm. The ZAND Beach Festival in Almere was one of the first places to experience the storm. Festival-goers briefly had to endure heavy rain and blowing sand.

There seems to be no place to hide in Almerdstrand. Due to a technical glitch, Claude’s performance is interrupted for fifteen minutes.

Shortly after 6 p.m., rain broke out over the Bataviahaven near Lelystad. A large cloudburst passed over the city from the Markermeer. The harbor experienced a windstorm with speeds of nearly 100 kilometers per hour.

The KNMI has only declared a yellow code for Flevoland. In Overijssel, Gelderland, North Brabant and Limburg, the golden code is orange. In the eastern part of the country, many requests for help have been received from the emergency services.

In the Lidl supermarket on Verlengde Baan in Biddinghuizen, some roof tiles fell during the thunderstorm. A shopper got this on her head. She had nothing to gain from this.

The panels were likely saturated due to water leakage. An eyewitness reported that the supermarket suffered further water damage.

Several trees fell in Biddinghuizen on Saturday evening. The fire brigade was called in with an aerial platform to remove dangerously hanging branches.

KNRM Urk Out
A sailing yacht got into trouble on the Ketelmeer near Schokkerhaven. Two boats from KNRM Urk went out in the rough weather to help those on board.
