Chromecast, Google TV, and Android TV users are complaining that they are constantly seeing error messages due to a download error. There is a workaround for this that is working for some users. Google is also promising an update that will fix the issue.
The Google TV home screen with “For You” recommendations has been regularly displaying a “Loading Error” screen lately. The issue has been occurring for several weeks, but has been receiving a number of complaints in recent days, including on Reddit. The issue occurs with Chromecast with Google TV and smart TVs with Google TV or Android TV built-in.
Google hasn’t mentioned what’s causing the problem, but it seems to exist. According to 9to5Google The company made an incorrect update on the server side.
Alternative solution and update
If you are experiencing this issue, you may be able to resolve it by logging out of your account and logging back in. This works for some users, but not for all. For others, even a full factory reset didn’t help.
Google has now announced that a fix for this issue is being rolled out. But it may take several days or weeks for this update to reach everyone.
