Tesla Introduces Model 3 With Cheaper Interior

Tesla Model 3 nu ook met goedkoper interieur: wat doet dat met de prijs?

Tesla is now selling the Model 3 in one country with a cheaper interior and therefore a lower price. Will the Dutch customer also benefit from this?

Anyone looking to buy a new Tesla Model 3 in Mexico is now offered a variety of interior options. This is quite surprising, as the automaker typically doesn’t offer any options to customize the interior of your Tesla to your liking. That’s now possible, with cheaper upholstery options made from regular fabric instead of vegan leather. The latter option is currently standard on every Model 3.

The same goes for other interior options that Mexican customers can now choose from. For example, the new on-board computer screen, which was included in this year’s updated model, can be removed from the overall package, as can the seat and steering wheel heating.

Making choices

Mexican consumers can also replace the RGB LED strip that runs around the interior with a white LED strip. Finally, there is the option of installing only the windshield with soundproof glass, instead of all the windows in the car.

It’s not clear whether Tesla is using different steering wheels and seats for the non-heated option, or whether the ones that are available are being used with a software lock. This wouldn’t be the first time Tesla has opted for such an option: the company has also done so previously with heated seats, which can be activated via a paid software update.

You can save this much.

But what would you save if you chose the cheaper options? He writes that the final result in Mexico is 749 thousand pesos. ElectricThat comes to about $35,000, excluding VAT. That’s about $4,000 cheaper than the current Model 3 sold in the U.S. Assuming Tesla tests in Mexico, it’s possible the option will also be offered in the European market.

Whatever price you pay for your Tesla Model 3, according to our car tester Rutger, this year’s model is the “best electric car per euro.”
