Google is offering Gemini Live for Android and later iOS. This is a “conversational experience” that lets users have a conversation with Gemini in real time. The AI ​​service is also getting an overlay for Android, allowing the chatbot to respond to things on the screen.

Google says Gemini Live can be used to have “free-flowing conversations” with its AI-powered chatbot. Users can ask the AI ​​a question, after which they will receive a spoken answer. They can then ask follow-up questions about it. The tech giant says the feature can also be used hands-free and can even work when the phone is locked. Google is introducing ten new voices for the feature, which speak in a different tone and manner.

Gemini Live will be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers in more than 150 countries starting Tuesday. This will initially only happen in English and for Android users. In the coming weeks, the feature will expand to iOS and will be available in more languages, though Google didn’t specify which ones exactly. The feature only works on smartphones.

Android overlay and more integrations

Gemini AI will also feature a “contextual overlay” for Android, which will be available “on select phones, languages, and countries.” Users with a compatible device can activate this feature by pressing and holding the power button on their phone or saying “Hey Google,” and Gemini will appear.

The AI ​​service can then answer questions about objects displayed on the smartphone screen. According to the tech giant, the screen will prompt “Ask about this screen” for this purpose. When users watch a video on YouTube, Gemini can answer questions about the video in question. According to Google, Gemini can also interact in apps where the service is integrated. For example, the chatbot can create images and insert them directly into Gmail. The feature will be available in the coming weeks.

Gemini will also be integrated into more Google services. Extensions will be available in the coming weeks for services like Google Keep, Tasks, Utilities, and Calendar.
