Pronto Somohardjo: “US$10,000 in stocks and profits from oil revenues for every Surinamese”

According to the deputy chairman of the Pertjajah Luhur party, Pronto Somoharjo, his party has a clear vision about the future distribution of Suriname’s oil revenues, which are expected to flow in from 2028.

“We are the only party that has a plan regarding petrodollars. In the first three years they will earn $7,000 million from oil. We say: by law, every newborn should get a $10,000 stock package. By law, every 21-year-old should get a $10,000 dividend. By law, people are allowed to buy cheap stocks,” Somoharjo, who is also Suriname’s interior minister, said on Friday at a PL party meeting in Marienburg, Kumeini, regarding 134 years of Javanese migration.

The Liberal Party leader pointed out that the Surinamese voter is of course not obliged to vote for the Liberal Party, but he asked them to check whether they had seen a cent of the bauxite revenues in Suralco and Billiton and the oil revenues in Staatsoli.

“Nothing. We will guarantee your money back. Don’t let anyone fool you. We have a vision,” says Somoharjo.

After Hizb ut-Tahrir wins next year’s elections, according to Sumoharjo, the party will come to the negotiating table with three conditions: preserving its cultural identity, fair treatment, and equality.

“We don’t settle for crumbs. If you want to give us crumbs, go home! We won’t control others, but we don’t want others to control us either. If you want to do that, we won’t talk to you.

The time to say yes is over. The time when they laughed at us and looked down on our wives and daughters is over. Because we will fight. The time when they loved us only when we were humble, simple, not progressive, and did not demand our share is over.

“Then they hate us, they call us barbarians, they call us extortionists when we demand our share,” said the party’s deputy chairman, who called on all former Hizb ut-Tahrir members to return home. Because, he said, only when there is unity and more seats can the party defend the interests of its supporters.
