Software Update: HandBrake 1.8.2 – Computer – Downloads

HandBrake Logo (75px)HandBrake version 1.8.2 has been released. Available for Windows, Linux, and macOS, this open-source software can convert footage to files including h.264, h265, or mpeg4 image formats and aac, ac3, mp3, or Ogg Vorbis audio formats. There are presets available for popular devices, such as iPad, Apple TV, or Android tablet, and things like chapter splitting and subtitles can also be taken into account. The following changes and improvements have been made in this release:

general

  • Fixed potential crash when trying to scan deleted files.
  • Fixed a crashed video scan that used reserved color matrix values.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause some audio tracks to be dropped.

    • FFmpeg 7.0.2 (Decoding and Filters)
    • Libas 0.17.3 (translation)
    • libvpx 1.14.1 (VP8/VP9 video codec)


Windows

  • Fixed an issue where autoname would not work properly with preset changes (#6159)
  • Fixed a potential crash when importing presets from the Mac version.#6186)
  • Fixed an issue with loading presets where video encoding was not available on the system. (#6184)
  • Slight improvement in startup performance on some Intel based systems.


Linux

  • Fixed an issue where an encrypted file could be output to the wrong file name when using the queue (#6067)
