Apple is set to launch new Mac minis with the fast M4 and M4 Pro chips this fall. The new computers will have a new, more compact design. It will be the biggest design change for the Mac mini since 2010.
The new Mac mini will be the smallest computer Apple has ever made. Bloomberg ReportsAccording to people working on the new device, the new Mac mini will be roughly the size of an Apple TV, but the new computer will be slightly larger. The updated version will have the same aluminum enclosure.
“iPad Pro in a small box”
Bloomberg’s sources describe the updated Mac mini as an “iPad Pro in a small box.” The new machine will have at least three USB-C ports on the back, as well as an HDMI port and power cable.
The computer appears in two versions: one with the M4 chip, like the iPad Pro, and a version with the more powerful M4 Pro chip. Pricing for the new Mac minis has yet to be leaked. The new model may be cheaper to produce, according to Bloomberg, but that doesn’t mean Apple will lower the price.

The new Mac minis are expected to hit the market later this year. The base model is expected to ship from Apple suppliers this month, with the high-end model following in October. Apple eventually wants to equip all of its Macs with the new M4 chips.
