The survey, conducted in FY 2023-24, asked 10,062 respondents from the US about their online shopping/payment habits. All respondents were between 18 and 64 years of age. In a survey, respondents can select multiple options as answers.

Credit cards are the second most popular online payment method for consumers in the United States. 46% of respondents chose credit card as an option.

Digital payment services such as Google Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay and Amazon Pay have become popular methods of online payments in recent years; In some markets/countries more so than traditional methods like card payments. However, in the United States, such digital payment options have not caught up with online card payments, which are still popular. Only 42% of respondents opted for digital payment service.

Direct Debit is the next most popular online payment option for US consumers. However, it was far less popular than the top three choices, receiving only 27% of the vote. Prepaid cards/vouchers are the next option, chosen by only 16% of respondents.

Cash on delivery was selected as an option by 15% of all respondents, and cash on delivery was selected by 12%.

9% of the respondents chose invoices as their online payment option, while they said they do not pay online. 3% of respondents chose other as option.
