United Airlines says the people on board were not in danger. According to the airline, the plane was designed in a way that enables it to land safely in the event of missing wheels or tires, or with damaged tires. This type of aircraft has six wheels on each side under the wings.

An alternative plane was arranged for the passengers so that they could continue their journey to Osaka.

Maybe a maintenance issue

Aviation experts tell the AP that losing wheels or tires on planes is rare and does not indicate a larger safety issue. One expert says that often indicates a maintenance issue, and the problem is usually not caused by the manufacturer, in this case Boeing.
