Ukraine claims to have shot down 10 Russian Kinzhal missiles • One killed in attack on Russian city of Belgorod, governor says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia’s victory was just a “feeling.” In an interview with The Economist. According to him, the opposite is true and that Russian forces are suffering heavy losses on the front.

Maybe we didn’t achieve the successes the world wanted. “Everything may not happen as quickly as people imagine,” Zelensky said. “But Putin’s victory is nothing more than a feeling.”

The truth, he said, is that Russian troops are being slaughtered in places like Avdiivka, a town in the Donetsk region. “Thousands and thousands of dead Russian soldiers. No one even took their bodies.”

In the interview, Zelensky said attacks on Crimea would be a “focus” of Ukraine’s strategy in the coming year, as Russia often launches attacks into eastern Ukraine from there.

The Ukrainian president does not believe that Russian President Putin is interested in peace. Zelensky says he sees no signs in this direction. If Russia indicates it wants to talk, he says it is only because it is running out of weapons and soldiers. (AP)
