Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomes US Senator Chuck Schumer. Xi believes that bilateral relations between China and the United States are the most important in the world, he affirmed.
Xi said how the world works depends on the relationship between the two powers, which must respect each other. According to the Chinese leader, there is nothing in person-to-person talks. Schumer is the Democratic leader in the Senate. He has gone to China with a delegation.

Earlier, Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi spoke to the American audience. Schumer expressed regret that China did not condemn Palestinian attacks from the Gaza Strip. China immediately called for a ceasefire. China has recognized Palestine as a state since 1988. Four years later, China has established diplomatic relations with Israel and says it enjoys good relations with both sides.
