Microsoft has officially announced Xbox Game Pass Core. This subscription model will replace Xbox Gold Live.
earlier in the day There were already rumors about Game Pass Core, but Microsoft has since confirmed its presence via Xbox Wire. Game Pass Core will be available on September 14th at the same prices as Xbox Live Gold.
Not only does Xbox Game Pass Core allow people to play online on their Xbox consoles, but it also replaces the monthly free games offered through Xbox Live Gold. Instead, a selection of more than 25 games will be available for members to claim.
The following games have been confirmed for launch, though Microsoft says the lineup may vary by region: Among Us, Descenders, Dishonored 2, Doom Eternal, Fable Anniversary, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Grounded, Halo 5 : Guardians, Halo Wars 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Human Fall Flat, Inside, Ori & The Will of the Wisps, Psychonauts 2, State of Decay 2 and The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. This is not 25 games, but more will be announced at a later date. In addition, Microsoft notes that new games are added two to three times a year.
Starting September 14th, all Xbox Live Gold members will automatically transfer to Game Pass Core. Member deals and discounts are also part of the service. Xbox One games previously claimed with Xbox Live Gold will still be available to Core or Ultimate members. Previously claimed Xbox 360 games will remain available through all subscription plans.
