Google is rolling out Smart Compose for the web version of Chat starting this month. The feature provides users with suggestions of what they might want to say. This way they can quickly auto-complete the message. The function is not yet available in Dutch.
The business chat service is part of Google Workspace and will receive smart composing functionality starting Monday, it was announced Google’s blog post on me. Initially, users within range of the Rapid Release will receive the update, and from June 26 other users will be able to access the feature, which will be enabled by default. In all cases, it can take up to 15 days for the feature to actually be added to Chat for Google Workspace.
Smart Compose works as it does in Gmail and Docs based on context and user input; Google’s language model predicts what the user is saying, and by pressing tab they can automatically “type” the suggested text. Smart Compose is currently only available in English, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese and operates based on the language selected in the relevant Google service.
