Battery operated comfort bubble
Mercedes now also comes with an electric Maybach. The starting point is the Mercedes EQS SUV, but it’s been refined and equipped with more luxury. Of course the technology has also been taken to a higher level, to match the performance.
Maybach EQS SUV a modest star?
There is no big star in the area between the headlights: externally, the electric Maybach EQS SUV differs from the regular EQS SUV, among other things, due to the modest Mercedes star that stands proudly on the nose. Illuminated running boards are not lost, and for a small 20-mile mileage, you can get by with two-tone paint. But thankfully, it didn’t get as extreme as the test car from 2021.
convenience in preference
In the back of the Maycbach EQS SUV, you won’t find a sofa, but two first-class seats. Together with the fridge (lukewarm champagne, you shouldn’t have to think about it), they eat up more than 200 liters of the trunk, leaving 440 liters; This seems to be the only concession to sheer luxury. There is no additional luggage storage space (eg to separate a wet charging cable from your clean items) in the nose. This trunk will be so high and so far away that you can face the wet nose of the car with your smartest clothes on. According to the Mercedes folks, it’s not ruled out that there will be a trunk for future models. The air-suspended structure (with additional Maybach comfort position), the sound insulation implemented to the maximum (including by way of a thick parcel shelf), the regulation of the internal air quality or the generous use of wood and leather, it really seems that all the stops have been pulled out to make you feel that you are at home. To be able to extract this electric cocoon from gray. To make electric driving as environmentally friendly as possible, the leather is tanned on a vegetable basis with a liquid from the husks of coffee beans.
couple uprooting tree
Propulsion in the all-wheel drive Maybach EQS 680 SUV – as it’s fully called – is provided by two electric motors that together produce 658hp and 950Nm. And this is slightly more than the Mercedes EQS 580 SUV, which has “only” 544 hp and 858 Nm. Capacity is yet to be determined, but the battery is larger than that of the regular EQS 580 SUV and if that battery is full, you should be able to travel up to 600 kilometers with the first electric Maybach, according to WLTP.
