The Old Main Brass Choir will be performing today at 5:30 p.m. in the Gaertner Performing Arts Center’s Concert Hall to celebrate the upcoming holidays.
With the collaboration of the College of Fine Arts & Mass Communication and the School of Music, the Old Main Brass Choir will be once again performing a select collection of pieces to start the season off right.
This group is a student-led ensemble compromised of talented brass players from our very own School of Music. Kyle Cameron, an original member of the ensemble said preparing for an event is a group effort.
“This group is composed of students, so it’s all up to them when they decide to rehearse as well as how often,” Cameron said. “Sometimes that gets a bit tedious, but once they have a set schedule it’s a lot of fun. You can really see how well they work together when you’re watching them perform.”
Sophomore Emma Wade, another member of the Brass Choir said she is excited about the upcoming show and sharing it with the community.
“As a member of Sigma Alpha Iota (AI), I was naturally interested in groups that encouraged the creation and sharing of music,” Wade said. “The Old Main Brass
Choir is another way for me to express myself through my instrument and allows me to connect with others.”
All SHSU students, faculty and staff as well as the entire Huntsville community are welcome to attend this free event. For more information about their performance or future performances, contact the School of Music at 936-294-1360 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
