A professor of the foreign language department is planning to go to Spain during her spring break in order to participate in the 2005 Trade Mission Program for U.S. Educational Institutions.
Frieda Koeninger, a Spanish professor at SHSU, has been invited to attend this program by the trade commissioner at the Spanish Embassy.
“This is a completely unexpected opportunity,” said Koeninger.
Koeninger said this is a first-time opportunity for SHSU to be invited by Spanish Educational Program, which promotes the studying abroad program in Spain for the university in other countries as well as the American universities.
“I try to find as many opportunities to study in the universities in Spain as I can for the SHSU students, considering what activities, facilities, and field trips that they offer. I am also hoping to find out about the new internship opportunities in Spanish business for all SHSU students, especially for criminal justice, fashion merchandise business, and Spanish majors,” added Koeninger.
Koeninger is leaving for Spain on Saturday, March 12 and returning on March 20. The representatives from Valencia, Mlaga, and Koeninger will visit Madrid, Avila, Salamanca, Len, Burgos, and Aranda de Duero.
“I’m so excited about all-expenses paid program. This is my fourth time to visit Spain. I’m looking forward to going to libraries to find some books for the research I’m working on, 1790 – 1800 Spanish and Latin American Culture and Theater, and seeing some of my friends in Spain,” said Koeninger.
