New smartphones in the third quarter of 2023
Are you ready for a new phone, but don’t want to buy an “old” one? Or do you not see anything to your liking in the current range? Fortunately, manufacturers are constantly releasing new models. We are also expecting many new smartphones in the third quarter of 2023 – the months of July, August and September. We look forward to these phones the most.
1.Samsung Galaxy S23 FE
A top-end smartphone, but a little cheaper than a real flagship. This is what the Samsung FE line stands for. So is the case with the Galaxy S23 FE. Compared to the regular S23 line, the FE will likely run on a somewhat slower Exynos 2200 processor from Samsung’s own labs. This is the chip found in every last year’s S22 series.
You can also expect a new 50MP main camera. Presumably, this is the same one also found on the regular Galaxy S23. You can choose from variants with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128 or 256GB of storage.
The battery capacity will be 4500 mAh. You’ll probably pay around 750 to 850 euros for the device, which should appear in the coming months. Whether he will come directly to the Netherlands is uncertain.
2. OnePlus Nord 3
The OnePlus Nord 2T was a very small upgrade over the Nord 2. This year we can literally and figuratively expect a much bigger step up. OnePlus Nord 3 gets a huge 6.74-inch OLED display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. Previous phones in the series had a 90Hz display and a diagonal of 6.43 inches.
Under the hood we find the fast Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chip that is also present in the OnePlus board. This makes Nord 3 one of the fastest mid-range smartphones on the market. The cheapest model, with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, is rumored to cost €449. This is 50 euros more than its predecessor.
3. Nothing Phone (2)
The hype surrounding the Nothing Phone (1) was great, but despite its unique design, the device didn’t quite live up to expectations. This year, that new player gets a second chance with Nothing Phone (2).
The smartphone retains the proprietary design, but has been significantly overhauled. For example, the OLED display grows from 6.55 to 6.7 inches. We find a more significant upgrade inside. Where none has the mediocre Snapdragon 778G Plus chip, the second gets the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. It’s much faster and is also included in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, for example.
What that will do to the price of Nothing Phone (2) is the big question. It seems certain that the device costs 469 euros more than its predecessor.
4. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5’s biggest point of improvement is the renewable hinge. As a result, this foldable device can be folded completely flat. In addition, there is less pressure on the large screen from the inside, which makes the fold less noticeable.
The processor will of course also receive an upgrade to the lightning fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the Galaxy device. It is also present in the Galaxy S23 series. We don’t have to expect major innovations in terms of cameras and battery.
Samsung will announce the Fold 5 at the end of July at its Unpacked event. Like its predecessor, this masterpiece will cost at least 1,799 euros.
5. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5
During the same event, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 also sees the light of day. This foldable device will likely benefit from the same new hinge and get a much larger screen on the outside. It grows from 1.9 to 3.4 inches. This makes it easy to check your notifications and easily take selfies with the two cameras.
The Flip 5 also runs on the fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, but otherwise the innovations may be disappointing. For example, the phone doesn’t get a bigger battery and the charging speed (25W) doesn’t improve.
6. Asus Zenfone 10
The little one is beautiful! The Asus Zenfone 9 was one of our favorite smartphones of 2022. Rumors have claimed that the new version will have a larger screen, but fortunately that doesn’t seem to be true. The Asus Zenfone 10 is likely to keep its compact 5.9-inch screen, making it the smallest high-end phone of the year.
Asus Zenfone 10 launches on June 29th. The company has already revealed that the device runs on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which makes it a real powerhouse once again. The camera system has also been updated, but many details are still missing.
7. OnePlus’ first foldable smartphone?
We’re less confident about this, but OnePlus may release its first foldable smartphones in the coming months. According to rumors, the company is working on two versions: a foldable device like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and a larger version that unfolds into a compact tablet. Of course we know that from the Galaxy Z Fold line.
OnePlus will base the devices on the Oppo Find N2 and Oppo Find N2 Flip. This is not surprising, since OnePlus and Oppo are under the same parent company. Moreover, Oppo has not (yet) released its foldable smartphones in the Netherlands. So they do not interfere with each other.
