It’s now become an annual tradition that the tech world looks forward to: Samsung unveils new Galaxy devices in January. The focus this year is on the integration of advanced AI functions, with an emphasis on how AI should make everyday life easier and clearer. The new series includes three models: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The editors have already shed some light on these devices; Now it’s up to the community to test it.

Tweakers Partners and Samsung have joined forces once again to form a test panel: five community members can start using the new devices: one programmer can test the yellow S24, two purple S24+, and two other testers can have fun on the gray S24 Ultra. Samsung is focusing on three pillars with the new Galaxy S24 series. With the latest features, users experience new ways to connect, create and play with AI.

One of the new AI features is the “Search Circle” with Google. By holding the home button longer, users can circle and highlight anything on the Galaxy S24 screen to get relevant search results. This happens entirely within the app, with users getting information without having to leave the app. For example, when someone sees a beautiful location in a social media post or discovers an interesting fact in YouTube Shorts, they can quickly retrieve more information.

Another important function of AI is “live call translation”, which allows instant translation of phone conversations into different languages. This is a useful feature for travelers or people who regularly communicate across borders. This feature instantly translates live conversations on a shared screen, for readable texts even without the Internet. The Galaxy S24 series makes it easier than ever to talk to someone without language barriers. There are no third-party apps needed and the built-in AI keeps conversations completely private. The Dutch language will be added at the end of 2024.

Chat Assist improves message tone for proper communication. Think of polite texts for colleagues or catchy phrases for social media. Samsung’s AI keyboards translate messages and emails in real-time into thirteen languages, with more to follow throughout 2024.

Shooting with the Galaxy S24 series

Taking photos and videos remains one of the most important activities for which you use smartphones. Smart technology also plays a major role here. The Galaxy S24 series’ ProVisual Engine includes AI tools. Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Quad Tele System, with a 50MP sensor and new 5x optical zoom lens, delivers high visual quality at 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x zoom levels thanks to the Adaptive Pixel Sensor. In addition, the options are: Night photography More improvement. Photos and videos taken with the Galaxy S24 Space Zoom should be able to produce the desired results in all conditions, even when zoomed in. Galaxy S24 devices distinguish between the filmmaker’s movements and the subject’s movements thanks to gyroscope information. This ensures noise cancellation and clear videos even in the dark and from a distance.

After taking photos, Photo Assist provides simple adjustments. Edit Suggestion suggests the perfect adjustments for each photo with Galaxy AI. For more creativity, there’s Generative Editing, which allows users to edit image backgrounds, such as filling edges in warped images and moving objects by automatically adjusting the background. The Object Eraser feature allows users to remove unwanted objects or people from their photos. After selecting an image, you can simply click on the unwanted object and the program will automatically remove it and fill the background intelligently. For action videos, Instant Slow-mo creates additional frames based on motion for more detailed slow-mo footage.

The brightest Galaxy display ever

Thanks to various hardware and software improvements, gaming on the new Galaxy S24 models should be a lot of fun. For example, ray tracing provides much better shadows and reflections in games. The Galaxy S24 has the brightest Galaxy display ever, and that display plays an important role, too. For example, the Galaxy S24 is easy to read outdoors, thanks to Vision Booster. The 2x Dynamic Amoled display on the Galaxy S24 Ultra has been certified by VDE Germany for 100 percent mobile color volume in the DCI-P3 color gamut. This means that images do not fade and colors are vibrant, regardless of the brightness level. The screen can reach a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, providing better contrast between the dark and light sides, with a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. All to make your mobile experience better.

Tweakers Partners and Samsung give Tweakers community members the opportunity to write a review about the Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, or S24 Ultra. A total of five modders were selected to test the new smartphones for a number of weeks. As a thank you for the time and effort they put into reviewing, they can keep the selected device afterwards.
