Vice President Ronnie Brunswick is married to his life partner Adolphina Cairo

Suriname’s Vice President Ronnie Brunswick married his life partner Adolphina Cairo this afternoon. The two tied the knot during a wedding ceremony at St. Theresia’s Church in Mwingo.

“Deep in my heart, I never dreamed I would feel this happy. But here, in your arms, I feel complete. Grateful for every soul by your side,” says the Vice President.

It’s a double celebration for the country’s No. 2 man. Today he also celebrates his 63rd birthday. There is a lot of speculation on social media about the reason for the VP’s sudden decision to get married.

Cairo and Brunswick have been together for years. Earlier in 2007, she was nominated on behalf of ABOP as a Ministerial Candidate for the Suriname Ministry of Transport, Communications and Tourism (TCT).

The proposal led to conflict with BEP partner, one of the other parties within Group A, after which Cairo withdrew.

She was also a former member of the Supervisory Board of Telesur and founded the “Ronnie Brunswick Growth and Development Foundation” in March 2021 to be able to provide a helping hand to those in need on behalf of her husband.

Brunswick was elected during the 2020 Surinamese parliamentary elections. On 29 June 2020, he was reinstated and elected Speaker of Parliament on the same day. On July 16, 2020, the Chairman of the ABOP Board of Directors was elected Vice Chairman.
