Streaming platform Twitch will once again enforce the display of graphic nudity and sexually suggestive content. Earlier this week, the policy on showing explicit content was relaxed.
According to Twitch, there has been “confusion” in the community about relaxation. After users were granted permission to post “artistic nudity,” Twitch says Some streamers have shown content that violates the policy. Twitch didn’t mention any specific examples.
The footage, which was broadcast in response to the initial approval of explicit content on Twitch, was “a source of concern to the community.” “We decided we had gone too far with this change,” Twitch said. The platform notes that “digital photography of nudity presents a unique challenge.” Artificial intelligence can be used to create realistic images and it may be difficult to distinguish between images. Restrictions on nudity do not count when streaming games with an ESRB Mature rating, or games for people 17+. Twitch says it will not make any further changes to its policy regarding sexually explicit content.
