Donald Trump will be jailed on Thursday. says the former US President on his social media site Truth Social. “I’m going to Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday to be arrested.”
Trump, 77, will be held in the Fulton County Jail. That’s what his team agreed with the Georgia district attorney. Trump’s bail is set at $200,000. If the amount is paid, the former president will be free to await his trial.
According to reports, the area around the jail will be locked down on Thursday CNN. Local police personnel have reportedly already been threatened because of the case against the former president.
Trump has been charged with criminal conspiracy to sway the outcome of the 2020 election in his favor. Among his eighteen co-defendants are prominent supporters such as former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
Trump’s bail agreement includes a provision that he “must not take any action” or “obstruct the course of justice” to intimidate co-defendants or witnesses in the case.
The judge will decide the hearing date on August 28. Trump’s lawyers have requested that the trial not begin until April 2026, after the November 2024 election. Federal prosecutor Fannie Willis, on the other hand, wants to begin the case in March 2024.
