A severe tornado has caused extensive damage in the state of Arkansas, USA. At least three people died and dozens were injured in the storm.
One person died in Little Rock, Arkansas. Around 50 people were also injured there. In eastern Arkansas, two people died during a violent storm that passed through the town of Wynne.
The governor of Arkansas has declared a state of emergency and mobilized the National Guard. More than 74,000 homes in Arkansas were without power Friday night.
In Covington, Tennessee, five people were taken to the hospital after the storm hit the city. The storm also wreaked havoc in northern Illinois. More than 100,000 people were without power there Friday night.
The storm is part of a severe weather system extending from the southern United States to the Great Lakes region in the north. The National Weather Service has issued a high tornado risk for the area.
The tornado in Arkansas is the second major storm to hit the US in a week. Last week, at least 26 people were killed in tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama.
