Eleven host cities were designated in the United States. They are Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles/Sophie Stadium, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle. In Canada, soccer is played in Toronto and Vancouver. Mexico hosts World Cup matches in Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.
“We congratulate the 16 host cities for their extraordinary commitment and enthusiasm,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “Today is a historic day for everyone in these 16 cities and states, FIFA, Canada, the United States and Mexico. All these parties put on the best show in the world. We look forward to working with them to deliver an unprecedented World Championship in which we strive to make football truly global.
“We are delighted with the unparalleled competitiveness of this selection process. We are very grateful not only to the sixteen selected cities, but also to the other six cities. We want to continue to work with those cities and see the potential of teams that welcome and engage fans. It has always been a three-nation world championship. “There is no doubt that this tournament will have a huge impact on the entire region and the wider soccer community,” said Victor Montagliani, president of CONCACAF, the confederation for the Americas and the Caribbean.
