The United States, Germany and France together account for 38% of global tomato imports

In 2021, a total of 8.328 billion kilograms of tomatoes with a value of €8.860 billion were exported worldwide. Horto Info shares this. The average price is €1.06 per kilo.

The US imported the most tomatoes: 1,940 billion kg, a 23.29% share.

With a share of 8.72%, Germany is second (725.8 million kg), followed by France with a share of 6.17% and 513.76 million kg.

The fourth largest importer is Russia 427 million kilograms (5.13%), Pakistan 404.31 million kilograms (4.86%), Iraq 350.42 million kilograms (4.21%), United Kingdom 334.78 million kg (4.02%), Netherlands 243.49 million kg (2.92%), Canada 200.58 million kg (2.41%) and United Arab Emirates (UAE) 190 .21 million kg (2.28%).

Among the ten largest importers, Germany paid the highest price for tomatoes (€1.97 per kg), followed by the United Kingdom (€1.57 per kg) and the Netherlands (€1.38 per kg).

Exporters
The US purchased 1.754 billion kg of tomatoes from Mexico, accounting for 90.42% of total US tomato imports. The country imported 166.89 million kilograms from Canada and 10.93 million kilograms from the Dominican Republic.

The largest supplier to Germany is the Netherlands with 367.52 million kg. It is followed by Spain with 163.74 million kg and Belgium with 65.08 million kg.

France imported 357.12 million kg from Morocco, 87.05 million kg from Spain and 26.47 million kg from Belgium.

Spain bought 80.79 million kg from Morocco, 57.18 million kg from Portugal, 20.51 million kg from the Netherlands, 10.35 million kg from Belgium and 7.16 million kg from France.
