Dutch Sandy H – also referred to in the media as Cendy H. – was arrested shortly thereafter as a suspect. The woman denies that her partner set herself on fire.

Andy Grantsan, 41, caught fire on Saturday night after being doused with gasoline for the first time. The preliminary investigation of the police revealed that he was sitting on the balcony of his house in the Bara district when the serious accident occurred. His 41-year-old wife was not found after the officers arrived. Much of the balcony was burnt.

Third degree burns

With third-degree burns all over his body, the victim was taken to the emergency department of Paramaribo Academic Hospital. The man, who left his daughter, according to reports on social media, died on the same day from his injuries.

Sandy H. was tracked down and arrested at a residential address in Paramaribo on the afternoon of Sunday, December 26. It’s stuck now. The Dutch Foreign Ministry says it is aware of the matter from the media. “But no request for consular assistance has been received at this time,” a ministry spokesman added.
