The Grammy for Batiste also has a Dutch touch: music producer Tearce Kizzo was closely involved in the creation of We Are under his stage name Kizzo. Dutch artists have not won any awards themselves.

SilkSonic, the joint R&B project of Bruno Mars and Anderson Buck, won a Grammy for Song of the Year for its single, Leave the Door. The duo surprisingly defeated singers Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo in the prestigious category. The latter won in the Best New Artist category.

The Grammy Awards consist of 86 categories, divided into different music genres. Musicians of all genres compete for the four major awards: Album of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year. The last of the four major classes was also the prey of the Silk Sonic.

Zelensky

The most important music awards in the world were finally awarded to Full House after two years. This was impossible in the previous two versions due to Corona’s measurements. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed an amorous audience with a video message about the situation in his country. In the video, he spoke of the contrast between music and the silence of “destroyed cities and the dead.”

Dutch DJs Afrojack and Tiesto have not won any awards. The two went up for a Grammy in the Best Dance Song category, but saw Rüfüs Du Sol’s song Alive win. Dutch composer Louis Andreessen also did not win a posthumous Grammy. The musician, who passed away last year, was nominated in the Contemporary Classical Composition category.

Louis C.K

Also noteworthy is the Grammy win for American comedian Louis C.K., who was criticized in 2017 for sexual misconduct. It won in the Best Comedy Album category. Many people on social media have quickly concluded that a so-called “cancellation culture” does not seem to exist at all.
