Sonos makes a striking statement after criticism of its major update

Sonos has given its app a major update with a major redesign and many users are not happy about it. Important functions are missing that were previously present. The company has now issued a fascinating statement in response to the criticism.

Yesterday, we wrote about the issues Sonos users are facing after the update. For example, the functionality that allowed you to play music from network attached storage (NAS), which is a storage device that you access over your network, has been removed. This function will not return for the time being, which has led to dissatisfaction among Sonos users with the NAS.

However, relatively few people will notice this, because most users stream music via streaming services. The problem that more people are facing is that after the update, you often can no longer create or set alerts. There are also more complaints about the app.

This requires courage

Sonos doesn’t apologize for these problems in response, but it does come with one Different statement. According to the company, such a major update to the app is very ambitious: “It takes courage to build a core product for a brand from scratch, and to do so knowing that you may have to take a few steps back until you can finally take the leap into the future.”

The company is still supporting the update, but says it is working to resolve the issues. That should happen sometime in the coming months.

Go back to the old version?

However, if you install the update, you will have to do without some features until then, because you cannot uninstall it. Only if you are using Android, you can find an old version of the application online and install it. Naturally, Sonos hopes that the updated app will eventually be better than the previous version.

Sonos Ace and Roam 2 leaked

Earlier this week, two unannounced Sonos products were also leaked: the Sonos Ace, the brand’s first wireless headphones, and the new Roam 2 portable speaker.
