Much of the United States is experiencing bitterly cold weather. More than 800,000 homes in the Northeast are without power due to storms and heavy rain. In the south, cyclones cause casualties.
The East Coast of the United States has been experiencing heavy rain since Tuesday. Some places may get up to 7 cm of rain. Snow falls on the edges of the storm. Up to 20 centimeters of snow can fall there.
A combination of storms and snow or rain can damage power cables and cause power outages. New York and Pennsylvania were hit hardest by power outages. In both states, nearly 200,000 households are without electricity.
