Mourad Vakili served as co-host on RTL Boulevard this weekend and this is the direct reason for his separation from BNNVARA. Because of this interruption, he immediately disappeared from the programming of NPO Radio 2. In his statement on Instagram, the DJ already announced that his television ambitions outside of BNNVARA were the reason for his sudden departure.

Recently, Murad regularly joined RTL Boulevard as an expert. He was now also allowed to act as a side kick, a role usually occupied by Luuk Ikink. However, this conflicts with his contract with BNNVARA and negotiations over this appear to have broken down. Of note is De Vegte’s Jeroen Kijk, who together with Jan-Willem Roodbeen presents BNNVARA’s Radio 2 morning show, is the regular voice-over for Boulevard.

“They gave me a choice: either you do one or you do the other,” Murad told RTL Boulevard last night. While I think it can be both: one reinforces the other. The DJ says he was unable to say goodbye to his Radio 2 colleagues because his departure was too sudden. “We communicate through the app, and of course I receive calls, but it is not good.”
