Refurbishment Tools Best Buying Guides – Computer – Plans

Today we’re changing the way we publish our best buying guides so we can further update our recommendations and keep them more up to date. Each BBG receives a fixed URL where the latest information can always be found, while older versions remain available in archived form.

Until now, we’ve produced each Best Buy guide as a standalone project for which a new multi-page review is created each time. For example, for our Laptop and Smartphone guides, we publish a new article every couple of months with updates from all multiple subcategories. Products tested after the production deadline sometimes had to wait nearly two months to be included in the next publication time. This isn’t ideal, and in other product groups where we updated our Best Buy guides less often, the problem was greater.

So we organized the infrastructure differently, so that we could update parts of the BBGs separately. So we can update our gaming laptop tips as soon as we get a new recommendation, without having to tweak other laptop categories at the same time. The result is that we can create more BBGs that are updated frequently. Since each BBG has a fixed URL within the site, you will always end up with the most current version.

Substantial changes

In preparation for these changes, we have been working for several months on the product cards that we use as core elements of our Best Buy guides and that will play a central role within the advice pages in the new concept. These technical tweaks also change the design of the best buying guides. Within the new structure, each product group will have a fixed overview page containing key information, to which essential buying guides link. We’ll also tweak the design slightly for a number of our best buy guides, where we often look at the intended use and recommend products at different price points.

Today we’re starting with the Networking category, where we’re publishing a new edition of our best buy guide for WiFi routers. We will also be adding guides to network groups and WiFi access points in the near future.

The transition to the new format will be gradual, as we will always transition the new Best Buy guide from the old “article form” to the new format.
