Realme announces 4K Google TV stick – picture and sound – news

Realme is about to launch Google TV stick. It’s the first Google TV OS release on a standalone piece of hardware since Chromecast. Until now, one had to use a Google stick or a TV with Google TV built in to get the operating system.

Pictures and screenshots on Realme’s page show that the interface is similar to that of Chromecast with Google TV, which dates back to 2020. On the hardware side, there’s not much to report. Realme states that the stick supports 4k60 output, in addition to hdr10+ and that the connector is of the hdmi 2.1 specification.

Realme mentions that the stick will be available on October 13th. However, the page showing all this can be found on the company’s Indian website. The expectation is that the product will be released at least in India on that date. Perhaps more will be known at that date, such as price and potential availability, outside India.

Google TV is a different kind of Android TV, which looks different. Under the hood, both versions of the operating system still run on Android. In the long run, Google just wants to put Google TV up for sale.
